Tourism growth in Portugal and Porto

After an excellent year in 2023, in which overall Portugal saw tourism grow by 13.3% in volume (to 30 million guests) and 20.1% in value (3 billion euros), the year 2024 also seems to have got off to a positive start (2023 data, source: INE).

Preliminary data from the city of Porto indicates a 15% growth in the global market in value. It’s interesting to note that the apartment market is growing by around 25%, meaning that the hotel market where the biggest investments are being made is the one with the lowest levels of growth.
